Small Trailer Refurbishment, Big Transformation
When K Sharp asked us to transform a small utility trailer into a professional mobile Human Factors Testing Unit, it needed more than a new set of graphics. The existing trailer was tired, marked and fitted with ageing trims and fittings, some of which were missing. Despite its compact size, it would be travelling to different locations and representing the K Sharp brand, so it needed to look smart, professional and immediately recognisable.
The result is a complete trailer refurbishment with a bold new finish that makes a significant impact both on site and on the road.
The brief
K Sharp wanted to convert the trailer into a branded mobile testing unit that reflected its work as an innovator in human factors.
The design needed to:
Create a strong and professional appearance
Make the purpose of the trailer immediately clear
Incorporate the established K Sharp branding
Be durable enough for regular outdoor and roadside use
Work around the trailer’s doors, hatches, fittings and wheel arches
Although considerably smaller than some of the recent trailers we have refurbished, every part of the design was carefully considered.
More than a graphics installation
Before we could begin wrapping the trailer, it required a thorough strip-down and preparation process.
We removed the existing graphics, doors, trims, bolts and fittings before cleaning and preparing the trailer panels. Removing these components allowed us to wrap the surfaces properly, rather than simply cutting the vinyl around old fixtures and edges.
The existing wheel-arch covers were also removed and replaced with new ones. These were wrapped in gloss black to complement the new design and create a much cleaner overall finish. The trims surrounding the doors and access hatches were removed, sprayed black and refitted once the graphics had been installed.
This additional preparation made a huge difference to the finished trailer.
Durable trailer graphics
The trailer was wrapped using a durable Arlon polymeric vinyl with a matte laminate. The deep matte background gives the trailer a modern, technical appearance and provides a strong contrast against the K Sharp branding. Gloss white vinyl was then applied over the printed wrap, allowing the logo and key information to really stand out against the matte surface.
Bright blue detailing was incorporated into the lower section of the design, along with graphics reflecting K Sharp’s work in technology and human factors.
Additional reflective markings were fitted to improve the trailer’s visibility and help it stand out when travelling on the road.
The finished mobile testing unit
The completed trailer looks completely different from the one that arrived at our workshop. What had previously been a fairly ordinary and well-used utility trailer is now a distinctive mobile Human Factors Testing Unit that presents the K Sharp brand clearly and professionally.
It may be one of the smallest trailer refurbishment projects we have completed, but the transformation is one of the most noticeable. The customer was extremely pleased with the result, and we are currently hoping to add their comments to this case study.
Do you have a trailer that needs refurbishing?
Trailer graphics are often installed onto vehicles and units that have already been in service for several years. Removing old graphics and replacing them without addressing damaged trims, tired fittings or poorly prepared surfaces can limit the quality of the finished result.
Our trailer refurbishment and graphics service can include:
Removal of existing graphics
Cleaning and surface preparation
Removal and refitting of trims and fittings
Replacement or refinishing of selected components
Full or partial trailer wrapping
Printed and cut-vinyl graphics
Reflective safety markings
Whether it is a small utility trailer, mobile demonstration unit or larger commercial trailer, we can help transform it into something that represents your organisation properly.
