Mini Kerbside Recycling Vehicle Wraps for Local Authority Fleets

We’ve recently wrapped three mini Romaquip vehicles operating in South Gloucestershire.

These are kerbside sorting vehicles, designed so materials are separated at the roadside rather than taken away for processing later. The mini versions are typically used in tighter rural lanes and built-up city areas where access is limited.

They’re compact, they’re busy and they’re not straightforward to wrap!

Fleet Livery Design for Romaquip Recycling Vehicles

We originally installed fleet graphics on the S. Glos vehicles back in 2017. As some of the earlier vehicles are now reaching end of life, the newer units are being brought through with refreshed graphics.

The livery was designed and developed by our team, and it’s now being rolled out across additional vehicles as they enter service. Larger Romaquips are due soon, and the updated design will also influence the next phase of recycling collection vehicles, creating a more unified look across the S. Glos waste fleet.

Specialist Wrapping for Complex Romaquip Bodywork

Romaquips aren’t flat-sided panel vans. Every compartment is a different size. Every section is produced separately.

The lower panels are printed on wrap film so they can conform around fixings, rivets, hinges and handles. There’s a lot to work around, and the material needs to move with the vehicle’s structure.

The upper sections are produced using a cost effective, durable polymeric vinyl better suited to flat panels, it gives longevity without over-engineering areas that don’t need full wrap film.

The compartments that receive food waste and glass are laminated with a specialist PVC-free overlaminate. Over time, fluids released from waste, known as leachate, can affect standard vinyl. Leachate is essentially the liquid that drains from decomposing waste or residual contents in bottles and caddies (eew!). We’ve seen over the years how repeated exposure can gradually degrade graphics in those areas, so this additional layer helps mitigate that long-term wear.

At the rear, the lower sections are finished with chevron safety panels produced using fluorescent flood coat with 3M Diamond Grade reflective applied over the top, ensuring maximum visibility and compliance.

The cab is completed with partnership branding between South Gloucestershire Council and SUEZ, along with all required safety messaging including blind spot and cyclist warning decals.

On-Site Fleet Installation in Bristol

We fitted the three mini Romaquips over three days in Bristol.

South Gloucestershire Council were delighted with the results and are looking forward to seeing the rest of the fleet come through as the programme continues.

It’s detailed work; material-led and the kind of fleet project we’ve been delivering for years.
